What is Whiplash?
Whiplash is an injury that occurs when an individual’s neck and head experience a sudden forward and backward forceful jerking motion. This injury is commonly experienced in rear-end car collisions, in which the head is forced back and forward in quick succession.
Whiplash occurs as a result of the ligaments and muscles in the neck being overstretched, leading to damage to the soft tissues. Many people unknowingly live with whiplash, as symptoms usually do not begin until a few days after an accident.
