The weekend of the 23rd June, myself and some good friends competed as Team Back and Body in a packed field at the Asbury Park Games. This is in fact the third year of the games and has already become one of the biggest Crossfit events in the northeast.
We were up against some pretty competitive teams and had a great time pitting ourselves against other great athletes. Next year’s event promises to be really special as it’s designated as a Sanctional event for Crossfit. There will some very competitive teams there.
There were just three of us on my team, but we gave our all and competed to the best of our abilities. At the end of the first day we were sitting in third position and ready to push on the next day. Unfortunately, our competitors pushed us just as hard and we couldn’t improve on our third place, but it was great to be able to compete.
It’s funny, I looked back at my schedule the past few years and I always seem to be doing some kind of competition before the end of June. I will certainly be planning on making the competition for next summer as well.
The whole event is very well put together. There’s a very large floor for the competitors to compete in and the surrounding areas are very well set up for spectators to watch. There’s even an outdoor bar overlooking the competition floor!
If anyone is into Crossfit and looking to compete, I would highly recommend the Asbury Park Games. Competing gives you a goal, something to aim for in your training and really helps you keep that level of fitness up.
I am very fortunate to work at Back and Body as when I do become injured, my staff can look after me and help me rehabilitate and get me back to full fitness as soon as safely possible. And this is the same for anyone who is looking to compete, one of our key specialties at Back and Body is helping athletes get back to fitness from injury in the most appropriate and efficient way possible.
If you are injured and it means you are missing out on your favorite activities and sports, give us a call. We can help you get back to doing what you want.
If you have any questions on our treatment options in Springfield, please contact us, we would be happy to help you and see what we can do for you.
