What is Regenerative Medicine?
Last time, we released information that regenerative medicine is arriving at our Springfield Back and Body practice and is available for patients both at our New Jersey and New York locations. We even said we’d arrange transport for our New York patients to come to us in Jersey. But what is regenerative medicine and how can it help?
To quote Chris Mason and Peter Dunnill’s paper “A brief definition of regenerative medicine” from 2008, regenerative medicine deals with the “process of replacing, engineering or regenerating human cells, tissues or organs to restore or establish normal function”.
In other words, we are looking to help improve and speed up the healing process by directly injecting the medicine in the area of the body that needs healing and repairing.
It has had significant success in restoring proper function, decreasing pain and enabling patients to live the life they want to lead again.
The therapies have been mostly available to professional athletes as they bid to return to action as quickly as possible with minimal delay in preparations to any events they may be active in. The therapy is already widely used for track and field athletes, football players, hockey players and more. Naturally, those athletes want and need to be back in action quickly before their seasons are spoiled or even over.
Now this therapy is becoming readily available to the masses. It works for the top sportspeople and it can work for the rest of us too. It is another great option to help improve the road to recovery and decrease pain, enabling patients to be fit again.
If this is something you would like to try, call us today. Either call our Jersey practice on 908-325-3000 or our New York practice, 212-371-2000. Either one will be able to help you.
