Discover our COVID Back Pain Relieving Tips
I think this pandemic has certainly gone on a lot longer than people thought it would. It almost seems incredible to look back at March and wonder where we would be 6 months later. It seems we’ve learned a great deal about the virus, but there is still some way to go and the experts are working day and night to find solutions. For the rest of us, our lives have been turned upside down, many have lost their jobs while others have turned their homes into makeshift offices. In many cases, back pain has been a result so we’ve put together 5 COVID back pain relieving tips to help people who have pain.
1 Keep Active
If you have back pain, try and remain active if you can. Limit your bed rest as studies have shown staying in one position for long periods of time doesn’t help and being as active as possible actually improves healing.
2 Watch What You Eat
It’s easy to put on weight during these times. We’re encouraged to not go out so much and of course gyms are still closed. This alone can cause weight gain and if your diet slips as well, then the extra weight increases the chances of back pain. Eat balanced meals, eat fruit, veg and drink plenty of water.
3 Stretching
Do stretching exercises throughout the day. Keeping your back supple and flexible helps to ensure proper nutrients flow through the spinal chord that can improve healing or prevent injury.
4 Ice Packs
If your pain is acute, then apply ice to the afflicted area for no more than 20 minutes at a time. Studies have shown 20 minutes to be the optimal time. Doing this several times a day helps keep inflammation down and reduces pain.
5 Inversion Table
These tables are great to help decompress your spine. You can pick them up on Amazon for less than $100. Being upside down for 15 minutes before bed decompresses the spine and helps to reduce pain as well.
Try any or all of the above if you are experiencing pain. These COVID back pain relieving tips may help you manage or prevent pain, but if pain persists or doesn’t get any better after a couple of days, please contact us. We are experts in dealing with back injuries and we will be sure to help you.
