Discover the Best Physical Therapy for Frozen Shoulder Pain in NJ

May 9, 2018 By Dr David Perna DC

Also known as adhesive capsulitis, frozen shoulder is a painful condition which is exactly what it sounds like – a painful loss of mobility in the shoulder joint.

Frozen shoulder begins with pain and limited mobility.  Both aspects of the condition worsen over time.  But then, almost magically, it resolves in from 1 to 3 years.

But most people don’t have 1 to 3 years to be in pain and unable to move one of their shoulders.

The 3 stages

The first stage of this condition is “freezing”.  Movement becomes difficult, due to pain when you attempt it.  Mobility starts to become limited.

In the “frozen” stage, the pain subsides somewhat, but your shoulder is difficult to move.

Finally, the “thawing” stage arrives and your shoulder joint begins to behave as it did before it “froze”.

No one is completely sure why frozen shoulder happens.  What we do know is that the connective tissue encapsulating the ligaments and tendons in your shoulder thickens and tightens, restricting movement.

People with diabetes and those over the age of 40 are most susceptible to frozen shoulder, especially women.

Those who’ve had surgery which requires them not to move one arm can develop frozen shoulder.  If that describes you, be sure to talk to your doctor about exercises to foster continuing shoulder joint mobility.  But if you have already developed frozen shoulder, Back & Body Medical can help.

Bhakti Dongre

Bhakti Dongre is part of an exciting transition for us, at Back & Body.  We’ve now brought the model we’ve won awards for at our Manhattan facility to New Jersey.

Part of our multi-disciplinarian pain relief team, Bhakti is a highly trained and highly regarded physical therapist.  With a Master of Physical Therapy in Rehabilitation, Bhakti graduated at the head of her class.  She also has a Master of Science in Exercise Science.

Bhakti is well known for her welcoming, professional manner and you’ll find yourself completely at ease when you come to see her to work with your frozen shoulder issue.  1 to 3 years is longer than most people are willing to give an injury to resolve.

Come to see Bhakti and she’ll help get that frozen shoulder thawed out and ready to get back to what you were doing before the big freeze set in.

Superior pain relief

Back & Body Medical’s award-winning formula offers 4 medical disciplines under one roof.  Our multi-disciplinarian pain relief draws on therapies from practices as diverse as acupuncture, chiropractic, sports medicine and of course, physical therapy.

With 4 medical disciplines under one roof, the team here is able to combine therapeutic responses to personalize care to individual patient need.  That not only gets you back to feeling more like yourself, but saves you having to bounce from one clinic to the next in search of relief.

At Back & Body, we know everybody’s unique, with specific needs and a one-of-a-kind physiology.  That’s why we’ve created an integrated model that serves our patients with superior pain relief.
