Low back pain is about the most common complaint we see in our offices in Springfield. Low back pain is also about the second most reason for doctors visits in general in the US. If more people realized the positive treatment of chiropractic care, we would see a greater number free of pain and living happier lives. But chiropractic is still growing in terms of a viable alternative and people are slowly crossing over.
While chiropractic care is one of the best ways to help manage back pain, there’s still things you can do as a person in your own time, even in the office. Simple stretching exercises for example are not only great for your back, but also gives you a break from work anyway.
Here’s some great exercises you can do in your office.
Firstly, before you do anything, realize that there are rules. Only stretch as far as you can bear and take three deep slow breaths for each exercise.
Sitting Exercises:
Sitting Forward Bends: This is a great one for your back and dead simple to do. Just sit on your chair and lean forward as much as you can. Don’t forget the breathing.
Sitting Trunk Rotations – Sitting upright just rotate your torso from left to right slowly.
Cross Leg Stretch – Cross your leg over the other, place your hands on the knee and then pull it towards the opposite shoulder slowly until you feel the stretch in your buttocks.
Standing Exercises:
Hamstring Stretch – Put one foot on a footstool or a chair and arch your back backwards until you feel your hamstrings begin to stretch.
Groin Stretch – Same as hamstring stretch except rotate your torso towards the standing leg and feel the stretch in your inner thigh.
Backward Bends – Put your fists behind the small of your back and then bend backwards as far as you can bear.
These exercises can be done in very quick and short periods of time. They’re really designed to help you exercise frequently and give your back a break.
